HEALTHY KIDS SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Weekend Food Packs

Also Known as Backpack Packs

“The weekend food packs do far more than fill empty stomachs – they quietly restore a sense of care, stability, and dignity in our students’ lives.” —School Counselor at Partner School

Students in 4 area schools receive a weekly “backpack” pack of 2 days of nutritious easy-to-prepare, kid-friendly meals.

HEALTHY KIDS SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Breakfast

Students at several area schools rely on ODBFP for a daily nutritious breakfast. Items include cereal, hot breakfast sandwiches, granola bars, plus juice and milk. These schools report improved attendance due to the breakfast program and students who are better able to focus throughout the day.

HEALTHY KIDS SCHOOL PROGRAMS

After School Activity Snacks

For students in after-school programs at one of our area high schools, daily nutritious snacks, including granola bars, fruit, hydration beverages, and other items, provide the needed nutrition to power them through long days on campus. These supplements are vital to students’ ability to perform during the school day and while participating in athletics and enrichment activities.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Programs for Seniors

In addition to providing groceries, Our Daily Bread Pantry serves seniors extended needs with several programs: a monthly senior luncheon, a monthly nutritional package designed for seniors, and home deliveries for homebound seniors.

If you are in immediate need of food assistance, an appointment is necessary to ensure a member of our team is available to assist you.

PROGRAMS FOR SENIORS

Lunch with Friends

Providing an opportunity for regular social interaction and a nutritious shared meal, our monthly senior luncheon offers time to visit with new and old friends, enjoy a full main course, and engage in relevant, interesting programs or activities. Lunch with Friends is a collaboration with AL’s Pals, YMCA of Collier County, and Marco Lutheran Church.

PROGRAMS FOR SENIORS

Care and Share

Every month, the ODB Food Pantry provides a nutritionally balanced box of canned fruits and vegetables, grains, protein, other nonperishable food, and additional items as needed for the elderly through The Harry Chapin Food Bank Care and Share supplemental food program.

This monthly nutrition package, specifically designed for seniors, is coordinated by ODBFP and provided to qualifying seniors. This can be obtained by Seniors along with our regular pantry distribution.

This initiative decreases the compromising decisions between food, rent, and medication often faced by those on limited or fixed incomes.

PROGRAMS FOR SENIORS

Home Delivery

Helping our most vulnerable seniors with their nutritional needs and social engagement, our volunteers provide regular grocery deliveries to local homebound seniors.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Food is Medicine

Investing in the Health and Wellness of Our Community

Our Food is Medicine program reflects a growing recognition that nutritious food is a critical part of healthcare. Our focus on healthy foundations in every grocery cart, our partnerships with healthcare providers for screening opportunities and our offerings of simple, healthy recipes and resources help our neighbors benefit from the evidence based approaches shaping Food is Medicine programs nationwide.

FOOD IS MEDICINE

Healthy Carts

A main ODBFP focus is providing fresh vegetables and fruits, fresh milk, dairy, and healthy proteins every week, along with shelf-stable vegetables, fruits, and grains.

FOOD IS MEDICINE

Nutrition Prescription Initiative

Our Nutrition Prescription is a partnership with Healthcare Network and the Florida Blue Foundation. This initiative exemplifies our commitment to Food is Medicine through the distribution of fresh produce to our guests, nutrition education and biannual health fairs for Lipman Farms employees and their families.

FOOD IS MEDICINE

Nutrition Education

ODBFP is committed to providing enriching opportunities for our guests, volunteers, and community. In partnership with Healthcare Network, we arrange bi-annual seminars to provide an understanding of nutrition needs, particularly for chronic health conditions. A series of wellness seminars for our community included nutrition as a whole-health topic, and we shared nutritious recipes and educational handouts for guests and volunteers.
